My circle of hunting friends up here (about 9 of us) are doing well. 5 have killed bucks. 1 of the five was a big bodied but goofed up rack. Of the other 4 the smallest was 138 5/8 and the largest is just shy of 150. I guess I haven't really paid much attention to how many have been killed this year on HI but I have seen several whoppers! I'm not on FB and I don't visit any other forums so I guess I am not sure if the numbers are up or down. Lots of people having success and shooting their first, biggest, harvesting first deer off new property, etc. so I guess I am saying it has been a successful season so far!

Most of my hunting circle killed nice bucks (130 plus)during bow season. We had a awesome chase phase here in Switerland County first week Nov. Think some area's were hit harder with EHD outbreak, but it was great hunting where i'm at.
One, there likely are fewer bucks down after two days of gun hunting for one simple reason. The weather....Yesterday was awful and there was no way I would have been out in it. Way to dangerous.
Secondly, there may be people like me passing on bucks. Saturday morning @ 9:30 I had a doe walk up who had a nice 130s 8 pointer trailing behind. They were both 30-35 yards from me and stood there for a few minutes milling around before they walked off.
Why didn't I shoot him? I've killed deer that size and was looking for something a bit bigger. Will I regret it? Probably, as I'm fairly certain that I'll not see another buck that's any bigger/better.
But those are the decisions you make sometimes.......
